Escape
Fireflies illuminated the sky,
like explosions of stars,
and we waited for the pain to go away –
two souls lost in words.
But nothing is what it is.
In the cocaine sea of the dusk
we were going back as if to Ithaca,
where our sky was waiting for us.
In Defiance of Everyone Else
Outside
The human race destroys
the human race,
While I lean against
the wooden bar, the old
barman refills my glass
and keeps
calling me “son”.
I stare at the faces
around me – beautiful
and gentle, like autumn leaves.
I know
that tonight the whole sadness
of the world is for everyone else.
