Before,
while walking in the dark
so as not to lose my way,
I stared not straight ahead
but at the sky.
The stars
illuminate our earthly paths
unwittingly.
Actually
their light
is for those travelling towards us.
If we decide
to utilize
their light
to reach them
we’ll need to row
against its stream.
With the speed
of a falling star
we row
to prevent us from falling
like a slap
in the face of earth.
Our oars
scoop the darkness
which we swiftly throw away
in the pupils
narrowing in the light,
as not to disappear.
Our thought
of ever returning
is an endangered plant
that doesn’t blossom
in a vacuum.
There are at least
two skies
we need to pass through
before reaching
the inhabited
planet:
from our sky through theirs
or
after ours
ours again –
to save at least one
of the endangered plants.
Now,
when walking in the dark,
my pupils absorb it
not to see the path clearly
but for the stars to be less visible.
